Linglestown Tuesday news and links

Blight update There has been some improvement in the condition of the former gas station on N. Mountain Road located just south of the historic village of Linglestown. The property is for sale. (The photo on the left was taken last fall, and the one on the right was taken today.)

Traffic advisory According to PennDOT spokesman Greg Penny, a repair project on the the N. Mountain Road bridge over I-81 near Linglestown started today, and the road should now be reduced to from two to one lane in each direction. The traffic restrictions on the bridge will continue for a little more than three months.

Food drive update I’m happy to report that the Linglestown Gazette Food Drive at Amelia’s Grocery Outlet has gotten off to a great start. As of this evening, about 100 lbs. of food, paper goods and baby supplies have been donated. Thanks so much!

To get involved in this community-wide project, CLICK HERE to view a brief video, and then stop by Amelia's to drop off your donations in the cart (pictured) located just inside the store entrance.

If every Gazette reader and some shoppers contribute a few items, the emergency pantry that will receive the goods would be well stocked for several weeks.

Hope something is done with that old gas station, but glad it's been "cleaned up". Was on my way home from work and was in the line at the bridge. There was a line, but traffic flowed. Just a small inconvenience so far. Great to hear the food drive is off to a great start. Good luck the rest of the week!

Yes, the food drive was a great idea. There are quite a few of those in the area, and it's always good to contribute something to help people who are struggling in this Bushleague economy. And having it at Amelia's was a great idea (easy to buy inexpensive goods there and place them in the food collection cart.)
