Linglestown weekend preview

Friday's big event
... Music at St. Thomas Roasters coffee house in the village square will once again feature The Cotolo Boys (pictured) of Grantville. The good times begin to roll at 8 pm, no cover.

Saturday's big event ... Car wash to support Boy Scout Troop #11 at Linglestown Fire House, 9 am to 2 pm. This is a great opportunity for you to get your car all spiffed up for Mother’s Day for only a $5 donation.

Village briefs Last Sunday’s Basket Bingo event turned out to be a profitable fundraiser for the Linglestown Elementary School PTO. The group raised an impressive $8,000 that will be used to update the children’s playground at the school. … Post office workers are holding a food drive Saturday … Lower Paxton Township is seeking a $250,000 state grant for planned skateboard park at George Park located on Nyes Road. … The Capital Tax Collection Bureau, which lost its biggest customer last month, will keep West Hanover Township as a client. Meanwhile, Lower Paxton Township hasn’t decided whether to follow CD School District in searching for a new tax collection service.

CD sports In a non-conference baseball game, Penn Manor defeated CD 8-3. The Rams got a Billy Felo solo home run and two-run jack by Zach Seaman, but little else. … CD’s softball team closed out the league season with a 9-4 defeat of Cedar Cliff. Winning pitcher Jessie Probst was 2-for-4 at the plate and Kim Grider and Rebecca Taylor each had two hits and scored two runs for the Rams. The Lady Rams start the postseason with a conference championship tournament game next Monday, May 12, 5 pm against Greencastle-Antrim at Heishman Field in Newville.

Have you heard any news on the Koons pool? I was wondering if they are opening this year or not. I was a member last year, but have not heard anything nor seen a membership application for 2008.

Any news, BB?

I was told last month by Koons Pool board member Chuck Barto that it was going to open, but things don't look very promising at this point.

Check the Gazette post for April 16, 2008 for the latest update about the pool. The post includes a link for contacting Chuck via e-mail.
