Twilight sweeps Sunday doubleheader

Linglestown Twilight, your hometown sandlot baseball team, improved their record to 4–1 by topping Middletown and Hummelstown in a pair of close games played Sunday at Koons Park.

Twilight blanked Middletown 2–0 in the early game. Pitcher Rhys Wolford only allowed two hits in a five-inning, six-strikeout outing. Josh Muscalus picked up the save with the help of a game-ending double play off a line drive snagged by shortstop Sam Phillips. First baseman Sean Frailey delivered a clutch hit in the fourth inning that plated both runs for Linglestown.

In evening game, Twilight scored two runs in the first inning and hung on to top Hummelstown 2–1. Winning pitcher Brad Sanders held Hummelstown batters in check until the seventh inning when the visitors got on the board with a run on three singles. Shawn Berwager relieved Sanders after Hummelstown scored, issued a walk to load the bases, and then got the winning out on a deep fly to center. Twilight left fielder Nate Shroy, a newcomer to the team, picked up an RBI on a first-inning sacrifice fly.

Upcoming games:   Twilight's next game is on the road Wednesday at Penbrook, 6 pm. Next home game is Sunday against Lykens, 2 pm.
