RamBand heading to Disney World

Over ninety performers from the Central Dauphin High School RamBand program will travel to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., at the end of the month to perform in a parade and in concert, and to participate in educational performing arts workshops with Disney clinicians.

The RamBand submitted audition materials to Disney Entertainment last summer and was selected to perform in both a parade and a concert. The band will take part in the Magic Kingdom’s “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade on Friday, April 2, and will perform in concert at the Waterside Stage at Downtown Disney on Easter Sunday, April 4.

The RamBand is no stranger to such large crowds, as the group has already performed in front of tens of thousands of people at various parades, football games, marching band exhibitions, and at a Philadelphia Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park last August.

Mr. Matthew Ceresini, who is only the third band director at Central Dauphin since 1955, leads the RamBand.

Updates from Linglestown merchants

* The Linglestown Merchants Association is excited to announce that a "Merchants' Map" is in development to direct the public to locations of special events and pass along road construction updates. The map will be updated during the construction project to reflect changes in traffic patterns.

Stay tuned for details on where you can pick up a copy of the map, and how to access it online.

* The very successful Valentines' weekend "Chocolate Walk" sponsored by the Merchants received rave reviews by the community. It was a great way to explore all that Linglestown has to offer and satisfied everyone's sweet tooth along the way!

Jeanne Sullivan was the grand prize winner! Jeanne stated that "she always enjoys shopping at the specialty shops and believes that they are some of the nicest in the area!" Congratulations, Jeanne!

The French are coming to Linglestown!

Fourteen French "discovery group" students will be in the Capital Region from July 7-27, for a three-week stay with American families. LEC, a French cultural organization with local American coordinators, has provided foreign homestays in Europe and the United States since 1972. For the past two summers, students have stayed right here in Linglestown.

Will you and your family host a French student this summer?

Eleven additional students will be available in July, and another 11 from August 5-25.

American host families will learn about life in France while showing these young people how Americans live, and helping them to improve their English. It's great fun, and life-long friendships have been built on these visits. A stipend is paid to help with costs of hosting.

For complete free information with no obligation, read LEC's blog at or phone Linglestown resident John Robinson at (717) 545-2979.
