Village committee picks route for bypass

Village of Linglestown Committee opted to recommend the Blackberry Lane route to link Linglestown Road and Blue Mountain Parkway. CLICK HERE to read story in today's The Patriot-News.

Here's where the proposed bypass loop from Linglestown Road will intersect Blue Mountain Parkway.

Eastbound traffic on Linglestown Road will use the new bypass road to get on Blue Mountain Parkway. All southbound traffic on Blue Mountain Parkway will be diverted onto the new bypass road. Blue Mountain Parkway will be one-way from Linglestown Road to the new bypass road at Raspberry Lane, allowing only northbound traffic.

"Decorative streetlights, benches and pavement will create the quaint feel of an early 20th-century town and lure shoppers, officials hope." Key words...officials "hope" I see there are numerous "For Sale" signs around the flagpole with a new huge sign just added yesterday. With the "quaint feel", benches and pavements, I sure hope the buyers of these properties and the owners of current properties put some money into fixing up the appearance of these buildings...Don't think while you are sitting on one of the benches and strolling along the sidewalks that you really want to be looking at an old rusted "Eagle Hotel" sign...Off to a good start though with the flower shop and the building beside it. That's what all the properties should look like if they are trying to make a "quaint feel" I know, not everyone could afford such improvements but that's why it's too bad that these owners will get nothing out of this improvement plan. I still think these "officials" better do more than "hope" this all works out.

I think it's a great idea, over in Europe they don't tear every bldg. down for progress. This has worked in other areas, The people of Lower Paxtonw Township want more places people can walk to. There are numerous developements in the area that will be able to walk to Linglestonw. What a great idea, People need to ge more exercise.
Bike routes to and thru the area would also be great.
I commend the township and the village committe for there hard work THANK YOU

Great idea if these were the days of horse and buggy and Linglestown Road wasnt a major road with a major traffic problem

Could it be possible to have a map included with this?

So the Bypass is going to be 2 lanes?

Yes, the bypass will have two-way traffic. To do it, at least a garage or a home will need to be torn down along Blue Mountain Parkway.
