Linglestown Gazette: Ripped over tax hike

Ripped over tax hike

In a letter to the editor in today's Patriot-News, a Lower Paxton Township resident goes ballistic over the tax hike recently enacted by the township.

I'm sure the paper's editors published the letter because the guy rips into elected officials, especially Bill Hornung. It seems a bit over the top since the increase is the first one since 1990 and most property owners will pay less than an extra buck a week for local services.

CLICK HERE for more info on the tax hike.

Other news:

Linglestown Baseball Association will supply the Gazette with youth baseball scores during the upcoming season; State Rep. Ron Marsico has issued a weekly roundup; A new YouTube video from BB Productions features scenes from Linglestown – CLICK HERE to view it. (The story is an inside family joke, but it's probably worth a few yuks for non-family members.)

Re: BB Productions video

Thanks for the feedback and for checking out the Frosty video. I warned you that it was an inside family joke. :)

It took about 3 hours to film and produce. I'm using projects like this one to learn how to use Windows Movie Maker.

More serious works are in the works.

Funny video, BB! Cute.

Another video creation software to use is Pinnacle Studio. I've been using it for about 5 years now and when I compared it to WMM, there was more functionality with Pinnacle. I use version 10 now but version 11 is available with high def capability.

Thanks much for the tip, B!!

With WMM, I couldn't find a way to edit the narration - if I screwed up, I had to redo it.

And, if a narration is saved and later edits need to made, the program wouldn't allow me to redo the project's narration. Maybe copying the edited video and pasting it into a new project would resolve this issue? (Didn't try that yet.)

I'm of the opinion people out here probably should be more concerned about not only the amount of taxes paid but also the number of entities collecting these taxes. I've not paid this much combined tax in any other state and yet we still had services, schools and well funded roads. Citizens should question where their money goes and if there is a better place and way for it to get there.

Hurrah to the fellow voicing his opinion. And you as well, BB. I just don't quite agree.

What a funny video! I don't know if I can stop laughing.

Maybe we can replace a LP supervisor with the snowman??

Just kidding, we all know that taxes are good for us and we need to keep paying more!

RE: I'm of the opinion [that Pennsylvanians] should be more concerned about not only the amount of taxes paid but also the number of entities collecting these taxes.

Amen, to that bakabaka.

The Keystone State is polluted with government. We have over 60 counties, about 2,500 municipalities and 501 public school districts, and each level of government needs a piece of our earnings.

It is long overdue for the state to radically reduce the number of local governments and school districts via consolidation – the horse-and-buggy days of the past when our state's system of government was set up are long over.

It's too bad that "consolidation" is a four-letter word to many citizens and elected officials.
