Thursday updates

BREAKING NEWS The location that formerly housed Senor Pepe’s Tex-Mex restaurant will soon be reopened as a new eatery, Mikado Japanes Steak House and Sushi Bar, according to a banner at the property located at the intersection of N. Mountain Road and N. Lockwillow Avenue. ("Japanes" was the spelling used on the banner.)

More reviews for St. Thomas Restaurant; pink paint debated

We went to STR and felt the food was pretty good for the price. (Had a tasty sandwich.) The menu is extensive, lots of selections, and waiters quite friendly. Plan to return to try something on the dinner menu.

We went there because it's important to do our part to support growing businesses in the village, and found it worth supporting!

One suggestion: that pink wall paint has to go ... needs something warmer feeling to make it feel a bit more cozy. It's not an ice cream joint anymore!! – Anonymous

Our family had lunch at STR on Sunday. We all enjoyed it, the food was good, and the server was great. There were lots of people in there. And I like the pink. – KM

Gazette feedback This blog has got to be a lot of work and I admire you for doing it. It is the kind of local reporting the Patriot-News should provide, but does not. You might run a little ad in the shoppers or the Paxton-Herald to let people know you are out there.

Editor's note: Thanks for the positive feedback. I’m going to stick with word-of-mouth advertising, so please tell your family and friends to check out Linglestown Gazette.

Why don't these new restaurants spell check before they print their banners. First it was St. Thomas Restaurant which serves "Diner" instead of "Dinner" and now this place is "Japanes" instead of "Japanese". Pretty sad if you ask me.

I am guessing that this is the same place? http://www.mikadojapanesesteakandsushi.com/

Was wondering if anyone else in our community is upset over losing West Coast Video.
I understand it was a corporate decision to close that store. But it would seem some business should be smart enough to open up a video rental place. It's a gold mine for that area. Who wants to drive all the way to Blockbuster on Jonestown Road.
I'm planning to write the township supervisors to see if they can encourage someone.
I love where we live with all the stores and shops so close by, but my kids and I are begging for a Blockbuster or similar near us.

Mikado can't spell to save their life. Their menu at the Mechanicsburg location is loaded with spelling errors.

Love the blog! Thanks for your time. I've been reading for a while now & I'm a great fan. I'm also heading to St. Thomas Roasters Monday morning. I'm sure it will be great.

Keep up the good work!

I,too, appreciate your blog and all the work you put into it. It provides a great service to this area. It's a wonderful insider's source of information and news, and I'm glad the Patriot doesn't provide this coverage instead. It just wouldn't be the same as BB's insider's quality coverage of local happenings. So keep up the great work. I wonder how many people know about it and wish the word could get out in other ways than word-of-mouth.
