Village briefs The 2007 champion Linglestown Twilight baseball team is prepping for the upcoming season and team members are placing game-schedule cards in village businesses. Their first home game will be May 21 against Lawnton. Game summaries and video reports will be posted this season on Linglestown Gazette. … T.W. Burger of The Patriot-News looks at a proposed zoning change that could set the stage for Sportsman’s Golf Course to be plowed under. … Gypsy moth spraying will soon start in Dauphin County, including Lower Paxton Twp. CLICK HERE for details. … The state has released estimates on how much of a tax break property owners will see this year as a result of revenues from one-armed bandits. Estimated savings for CD School District is a whopping $114 per homestead or farmstead, which works out to $12 a month. Hmmm. … Speaking of one-armed bandits, a friend took me to Hollywood Casino to grab a late-night cup of Joe. He insisted that I play a game and gave me a buck to feed a poker gizmo. I won $2.25 on the first hand and decided to cash out. Not bad, eh? … Finally, spring has sprung and Speedo Man on Jerome Blvd. has blossomed, according to the locals that hang out on PennLive’s Linglestown forum – see thread #369.

Music at Roasters Friday, 8-10 pm, St. Thomas Roasters coffee house on the village square on will feature guitar fingerstylist Dave Campell of Washington, D.C. As always, there's no cover and a wide array of coffees, teas and fruity drinks will be available to enjoy.

CD academics Gazette congratulations go out to Chad Wine for being named the Colonial Park Rotary Club student of the month for April.

CD sports It was a good day for a pair of CD teams Wednesday. On the diamond, the Rams knocked off first-place Red Land Patriots in baseball on the strength of three RBIs by Sam Nott (3-for-3) and a solid performance by pitcher Kyle Weldon. Weldon fanned three and watched teammates Tom Healy and Nate Shroy club two hits apiece. CD is solidly in third-place with a divisional record of 6-4, overall 10-6. … And in softball, CD rallied from a two-run deficit to nip Red Land 5-4. Sarah Schwalm's RBI single drove in the winning run. The Lady Rams (9-1 league, 13-2 overall) are tied with Chambersburg for first place
