Linglestown Twilight gets season’s first W

After losing the season opener Wednesday in a tight game against Lawnton, Linglestown Twilight baseball team quickly reversed their fortunes Thursday in Steelton by crushing their host 15-2 in a shortened six-inning game. The win improved Lingletown’s record to 1–1 heading into Memorial Day weekend.

Lingletown came out swinging, said Coach Steve Econ, generating 15 runs off of 12 hits. Leading the offensive explosion was Ken Connor who went 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Other top bats were Brian Zellers with three RBIs and four runs scored, and Steve Booker with two hits.

Pete Hayden pitched the first three innings to get the win. He was backed up by reliever Rhys Wolford who pitched two innings and recorded three strikeouts, and Steve Booker who took the mound for the final inning and struck out the side.

Linglestown Twilight will be back in action next Saturday, May 31 when they play a doubleheader at Koons Park against Valley View with the first pitch at 1 pm. Please consider stopping by and checking out your hometown ball team as they strive to defend their East Shore Twilight League championship.
