Received via e-mail ...

We at St Thomas Village Oriental Market and General Store wish to thank all the vets and others who put in so much time and effort to make today's celebration special. The Bugler gave a rendition of Taps that was to me, very moving. The Piper did a great rendition of "Amazing Grace."

And thanks to all who came to our store and sampled the Lumpia and the coffees.

And a special thanks to you, Bill, for the Gazette, and the loyal readers who came to our store based on the published article that you did.

Bill, I was unable to attend the parade yesterday in Linglestown so I really appreciate the Gazette recording it for its readers.

It was a great parade and a great opportunity for me to teach my little children about the service and sacrifice of soldiers for their country.

One question: why no HS marching bands? Only one school even participated in the event and that was Harrisburg Christian School. Seems like CD, Bishop McDevitt and others could have at least been represented in the parade.

RE: Marching bands ... The parade is organized by the Linglestown American Legion. I'm not a Legion member, so I don't know if they aggressively searched for bands to play in the parade.

I remember two years ago that Bishop McDevitt marched in the parade. It would be nice to see some marching bands in the parade.
