Linglestown Twilight starts tournament with a W

Linglestown won its first game Thursday in the Rawlings Berkshire Showdown by a score 3-1 in Reading over the very tough host team, Berkshire Red Sox. The win extended Linglestown's win streak to nine games (8-1 league, 9-1 overall).

Pete Hayden pitched well, recording a complete game. He scattered six hits and four walks.

The offense made the best of only four hits. The first run, in the first inning, came with two outs. Steve Booker doubled home Brian Zellers, who reached on a walk. Bryan Stovall singled home Scott Montgomery in the third to go up 2-0.

The team held on with some good defense behind Hayden's great effort.

Upcoming games ... Linglestown Twilight continues play in the tournament Friday with games at 6 pm and 8:30 pm in Fredericksburg at Wenger Field. Next home game at Koons Park will be Sunday, June 22, against Lykens at 5 pm.
