Fireworks a blast at Koons Park

Oos and ahs were plentiful Saturday evening at the annual fireworks at Koons Park that marked the July 4th holiday. The weather cooperated and a huge crowd turned out for the show sponsored by Linglestown Fire Company.

Rob Nease, promotions manager for Harrisburg at Home, attended the event with his family and submitted an idea for thanking the firefighters and fire police who staged the show:

Stop by the fire company’s chicken BBQ this Saturday, July 12, beginning at 10 am and buy a meal. And while you're there, thank them for their dedication in providing fantastic events and services for the community.

Prior to the bangs and colorful explosions, I snooped around to get a behind-the-scenes-look at the making of fireworks show that was produced by Sky Shooters, a company based in Tower City, Schuylkill County.

Great fireworks display!! It's great that this small town and fire department of ours is able to do this for the community. I wasn't part of the crown at the park, I have a great view from my backyard. I will be sure to stop at their chicken bbq on Saturday to support and thank them.
