Twilight defeats Penbrook in pitchers’ dual

KOONS PARK (July 24) – Pitchers Jack Muscalus for Linglestown and Ted Stauruch for Penbrook baffled batters Thursday evening before a nice crowd at Koons Park. In the end, first-place Linglestown did just enough in their last at-bat to stop the visitors when Brad Sanders (pictured at bat) collected the game's only RBI on a bloop single to earn a 1-0 victory.

Prior to Sander’s gaming-winning hit, catcher Bryan Stovall delivered a key hit that moved left fielder Jason Kelly, who reached on an error, to third base.

Winning pitcher Muscalus faced just 23 batters, limiting Penbrook to three hits.

Twilight notes Muscalus (pictured) is arguably the best hurler in the East Twilight loop with a 6-0 record and an extremely stingy 1.0 earned run average. … Linglestown (18-7-2) ends its regular season Monday, July 28, with an away game at Lykens/Wisconisco. Post-season play will begin in early August – check Linglestown Gazette for game dates and locations. … What would a Twilight report be without a "Where’s Rhys?" segment? In the Penbrook game, pitcher/DH Rhys Wolford left the comforts of the Twilight bench two times to serve as a courtesy runner for catcher Stovall.
