Linglestown Gazette: Lower Paxton government watchdog

Lower Paxton government watchdog

There's not much happening this week due to Thanksgiving, but there is a major powwow of the Lower Paxton Twp. supervisors Tuesday, Nov. 25, when they huddle to finalize a preliminary 2009 township budget. The meeting will take place at the Municipal Center starting at 4 pm.

Like many local governments and businesses, the township’s revenues this year have been lower than projected, and this has caused a budget deficit. Township manager George Wolfe said last week that a budget deficit could be in the works for 2009 as well. I’ve been told that the township has a sizeable rainy day fund, so no one is expecting the township to go belly up financially.

Township officials have not suggested to date that a tax hike is in the works for 2009.

Developing story ...
