Linglestown Gazette was on hand at the CD Ram SLAM 3-on-3 basketball tournament held Saturday at the high school gym. Seventeen teams competed in middle school and high school divisions, and the winning teams are shown below (click on the photos to view larger versions):

HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION: (l. to r.) Nick Laird, Jon Schnaars, Josh Barwin and Connor Arnold (The team won six straight games to claim the championship.)

MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION: (l. to r.) Michael Gress, Ryan Stayton, Joey Good and Manny Gonzalez (After losing their first two games, this team caught fire and went undefeated the rest of the tournament.)

Jeff and Eileen Arnold organized the Ram SLAM. The tournament raised $759 for the basketball booster club.

 * Moving to diamond news, Steve Crimmel of Linglestown passed along a list of local guys who playing college baseball this season. Several of the players spotlighted in the article could feed the Linglestown Twilight team this summer.

 * The ‘tink” of baseballs hitting metal bats has returned to Koons Park. Linglestown Baseball Association youth teams started preparing last Tuesday for Opening Day on April 18.
