Government watchdog, 03.23.09

* The Central Dauphin School Board will hold a business meeting Monday night at the Lecture Hall of Central Dauphin East High School, 7 pm. To view the agenda, click on the plus sign for 03/23/09, and then click on the plus signs to get details about specific agenda items, including downloadable PDF files of documents.

* Central Dauphin School District has placed an employee on administrative leave for allegedly making a threat last Wednesday, according to The Patriot-News.

* The only Lower Paxton Twp. meeting of note is a series of hearings that will be held by the Zoning Hearing Board on Thursday at the Municipal Center, 7 pm. Below is a list of the scheduled hearings:

– Arlean Marks of Carlisle is appealing an order to demolish a structure at 1236 Wheatfield Drive.

– Thomas and Susan Bay are seeking a variance to construct a sunroom at 4051 Nancy Drive.

– The Diocese of Harrisburg is seeking two approvals for the new Bishop McDevitt High School planned on Spring Creek Road: A special exception related to a football stadium parking lot and a variance related to storm water management.

* The Merchants of Linglestown will be meeting Monday evening for the time since they launched a membership drive. This isn't a governmental meeting, but I wanted to mention it for the record. A sizeable crowd is expected to attend.

* The general public is invited to attend the next meeting of Lower Paxton watchdog group SWAN on Monday, March 30, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 7 pm.
