From just beyond our backyard … Gazette reader Jay Mumper liked the fare at recently opened Billy D’s Ice Cream Shoppe located at the old Hong Kong Ruby in Beaufort Farm Plaza along Linglestown Road in Susquehanna Twp.

"We sampled a number different dessert items - all very good. We also had great service - very courteous and prompt. The menu is fairly extensive for a typical ice cream shop, including baked goods, sandwiches, ice cream, and various coffees. Worth a try as an alternative to the typical ice cream joint."

CD parent workshop attracts small crowd … Gazette reader Eileen Hurley told the Gazette that the parent meeting last week on risky student behaviors was very informative but poorly attended. Marsicos seek revisions in state gaming laws … For two years, Rep. Ron Marsico has been insisting on changes in the 2004 law that authorizes 14 slots casinos in Pennsylvania. Now he’s getting help from his cousin, Dauphin County District Attorney Edward Marsico. More from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Twilight baseball update … According to Linglestown Twilight coach Steve Economopolus, the team begins practice this month for its 50-game schedule that starts in May. Twilight is looking to win the East Shore Twilight Championship for the third year in a row this season. If you are a fan of college-level competitive baseball, be sure to save the date on Friday, May 29, for the team’s home opener against Lawnton.
