Mission impossible: Picking county judges

The major byways and intersections in Lower Paxton Twp. these days are polluted with political signs for Dauphin County judicial candidates, and that's because 11 candidates are vying for three bench seats. Three of the hopefuls reside in the township, although please don't vote for them because they live in our municipality.

I'm not going to wade into this race since, in my opinion, it's nothing more than a beauty contest. Why? Judicial candidates are not permitted to give views on issues that might come before them, so they mainly run on their resumes.

Patriot-News reporter Pete Shellem looks at the race in today's issue.
