Opening Day baseball scores, 04.18.09

Below are scores from Opening Day of the Linglestown Baseball Association season. Gazette kudos go out to all the home coaches for submitting scores on a timely basis!

Midget games

Tigers 12 – Orioles 1 ... Aaron Gress led the Tigers by pitching three no-hit innings and smacking a two-run homer. Adam Thorton also went yard with a three-run round-tripper.

Sox 8 – Braves 6 ... On the strength of Steven McNeal's two-run home run in the first, the Sox were able to hang on to an 8–6 victory over the Braves.

Pony games

Colts 10 – Padres 9 ... The Padres went ahead 8-7 in the top of the 6th inning. In the bottom of the inning with bases loaded, Dylan Moyer hit a spectacular game-winning single to right field to bring in the winning run for the Colts.

Owls 10 – Rams 6 ... Evan Zeigler went two-for-two at the plate, scored two runs and struck out four from the mound in the Owls first defense of their 2008 championship. Zachary Peffer provided strong defense for the Owls with two unassisted put outs. Gaige Selvey, Mason Griffiths, and Chris Wright all recorded timely hits in a four-run third inning.
