Government watchdog, 07.21.09

* Be sure to check out highlights from last week's Lower Paxton Township supervisors' workshop meeting if kids in your neighborhood play basketball on public streets. Also, there's talk of a solar energy project. Meeting notes are courtesy of SWAN.

* The supervisors will meet this evening, Tuesday, July 21, at the Municipal Center, 7:30 pm. The meeting will be broadcast live on Comcast channel 20. (meeting agenda)

* The next Central Dauphin School Board meeting will be held Aug. 10.

In my neighborhood alone there is at least 6 or 7 of such basketball courts. We can have a pedophile move in the neighborhood and the township does no extra patroling to protect our children, but let our kids try and have a little fun in a neighborhood and they need to find a way to either fine us or stop the fun. Are these the same people who say our kids need more exercise. PLEASE!

Per the Zoning Ordinance, the BB set ups are illegal. The Twp should enforce this ordinance as it does any other one. They can't really pick and choose.

Wondering why methane from the LP landfill isn't tapped and fueling generators creating electricity?

This is being considered in Cumberland County.
