Citizens weigh in on CD bus outsourcing

Below are links to statements made by four citizens during the public comment period prior to the school board hiring Durham School Services to operate the district's bus operations:

Eric Epstein, business agent for CD Bus Drivers Association (full statement)

“In the long run, residents will be exposed to higher taxes, costly litigation, and unnecessary safety risks if this hurried, closed-door process is affirmed this evening.”

Donna Ricupero
, president, CD Bus Drivers Association (full statement)

She gave school officials over 1,800 petitions signed by parents and taxpayers who requested a “no” vote on outsourcing.

Jay Purdy (full statement)

“You’re about to approve terms and conditions that aren’t even spelled out yet.”

Melissa Van Eck, Region 3 school board candidate (full statement)

“… there has been a complete absence of transparency and public participation regarding this issue.”

Quite simply, I won't be voting for any board members that voted for the change.

I agree, Ford-Thompson is the only one getting my vote! I sincerely hope that they decide to make more educated, fact based decisions in a timely manor with our tax dollars!
