Twilight goes one up in finals

Linglestown Twilight sandlot baseball team played a solid game in defeating Middletown 3–1 Saturday in the first game of the best-of-seven East Shore Twilight League championship series. The game was played at Koons Park. CLICK HERE for a game report and photo from The Patriot-News.

The series resumes Sunday at Middletown with the first pitch at 5 pm.

Twilight notes ... The winning pitcher was Rhys Wolford. He hurled a three hitter that included six strikeouts and four walks. ... Sean Frailey, Bryan Stovall and Kyle Hollingsworth each had a run batted in. ... Linglestown won two of three games against Middletown during the regular season. ... Linglestown won the league playoff championship the last two seasons and eight times overall since the league formed in 1975. Meanwhile, Middletown is seeking its first league playoff crown. ... The two teams last met in the championship round in 2007. Linglestown won that series with a dramatic victory in the seventh game played at Middletown.
