Linglestown construction update

The race is on for work to be completed by the end of October to restore two-way traffic on Linglestown Road. Below are highlights from the Village of Linglestown Committee held in August:

The contractor, Leon E. Wintermyer Inc. of Etters, is now working ten-hour shifts five days a week in an effort to restore two-way traffic by the end of October.

Initial work on the eastbound lane has been completed, and excavation work on the westbound lane is well under way. Vehicular traffic through the construction zone continues to be one-way in the westbound direction.

The two roundabouts – one in the square and the other near the firehouse – will not be completed until next spring.

PennDOT planned to set the speed limit on Linglestown Road in the village at 35 mph, but some citizens are pushing for 25 mph for safety reasons. After the project is completed, PennDOT will do a traffic study to determine the appropriate speed limit. Officials hope that the roundabouts, parking areas and narrowness of the road will result in the lower speed limit being used.
