Lower Paxton news briefs

* Township officials that operate the sewer system are mulling a small rate hike of $4 or $5 for 2011 to avoid a bigger hike down the road. The current quarterly rate for residential properties is $116.

* Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church is working on plans to construct a 1,400-seat sanctuary in the northwest corner of their property along Allentown Boulevard. Recently, a church representative gave an informational presentation on the project to the township supervisors.

* The township is preparing to refinance a portion of its existing debt. If approved, the refinancing would result in net savings of $264,000 in 2011, or the savings could be spread over several years. The supervisors agreed to take up this issue during their Oct. 19 meeting.

and then there's the proposed property condemnation for the sewer system. :( I hate to see anyone lose land that way.
