Lower Paxton asked to delay vote on regs

UPDATE, 8 pm, 11/1/10 – SWAN withdrew its request for a delayed vote based on a response received from Lower Paxton Twp. manager George Wolfe. The local law discussed below most likely was adopted – I don't know for sure because Comcast channel 20 dropped its meeting coverage prior to the vote.
____

Citizen group Stray Winds Area Neighbors (SWAN) has asked Lower Paxton officials to delay a vote on revised regulations for residential and commercial construction projects.

The proposal – referred to as the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance of 2010 – is on the agenda for the Monday night’s meeting of the township supervisors at the Municipal Center, 7:30 pm.

The land-use legislation has been in the works for three years, and SWAN members have attended public meetings and offered written suggestions for potential revisions.

Before a final vote is taken, SWAN is seeking feedback from the township’s engineering firm that the group’s recommendations were considered.

"Our review appears to show that none of SWAN's recommended definition changes were adopted," said Eric Epstein, the group's chairman, in an e-mail to township officials. He also noted that some design standards require further clarification.

Another item up for a vote at the meeting is a 1,400-seat sanctuary proposed by Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

Supervisors meeting agenda for Monday, Nov. 1, 2010.

To watch the meeting on TV, tune into Comcast channel 20 or Verizon channel 22.
