Sasha's now Blue Moose

I noticed in the Gazette stats that several readers have been searching for info about the newly opened Blue Moose Bar & Grille, which was formerly Sasha's Hideaway.

CLICK HERE for a Patriot-News article about local restaurant trends that features the Blue Moose.

The restaurant is located on Rt. 39 east of Linglestown. (map)

Where to start with this horrible dining experience.

First, the wait. It was 45 minutes to an hour they said. It was about 1 hour until we were seated. Don't assume it's because it's amazing. It's just new and no one learned their lesson to avoid this horrible place first.

Then the real fun begins! We order after waiting 20 minutes for our waitress to come for drink orders. After we order we sit. No one checks on us. No one even comes our way. After about 1 hour the waitress FINALLY shows back up and says "oh, you don't have your food yet. I'll check on it for you". Here they threw away our order ticket and had yet to even start it! All in all it took about 3 hours from getting through the door until we had our food! Apparently it happened to others. One person stopped us in the parking lot. They said they walked out when they heard us complaining about it and said the same thing happened to their order ticket. Another group left after about an hour wait for food without ever even knowing what happened... but I'm sure the same. The food was about as good as fast food when we finally got it.

Overpriced, semi-ok at best food, horrible wait, and incompetent staff. I'm warning you to stay away unless you're a glutton for punishment! What a HORRIBLE place!

It sounds like the wait staff and kitchen were overwhelmed by the crowd that showed up.

The parking lot was packed Friday evening, April 1, 2011.

I find it hard to give much credence to someone who writes nasty comments anonymously. Secondly, it's never usually the best idea to try out a new place during the grand opening weekend. This is pretty much par for the course during such events. I'm a restaurant vet, having been in the industry for about ten years, and every new place goes through these adjustment periods for about the first one to two months. It's easy to complain when things go badly, but if you try to use a little compassion (and a dash of common sense), you can often times understand the issues involved.

I agree Fallon. I was there on Saturday evening and again it was very crowded. Hoorah for them.

Good to see a risky business decision paying off for a local business (changing from formal to casual).

Obviously and understandably the staff was overwhelmed by the number of people they have attracted (even without much adverstising); but they appeared to be doing the best that they could under the circumstances (i.e. new concept, new menu, probably some new staff)...cut them a break! We're all human.

If you're too meek to flag down the waitstaff because you were overlooked then you deserve to wait 20 minutes for a drink.

For the record, our food was good, reasonably priced, and came out promptly! Cheers to a new sports bar in the area...Good Luck to the Blue Moose.

We stopped in on Monday night and obviously had none of the problems that anyone experienced on Friday or Saturday nights. Sat right down, waitress was immediately there and attentive throughout, food was delivered quickly and was very good, and the cost was a fraction of what it used to cost to dine there. All in all it was a terrific dining experience and I urge anyone who had a negative experience before to give em another try. You won't be disappointed. I agree with the one comment about these kinds of things happening opening night - they were just overwhelmed. By the way, their 'official' grand opening weekend is May 20 - so you always have to expect little speed bumps initially, that's why restaurants do soft openings. So have some patience with them.

I went to the new "Blue Moose" on Wednesday night and I had a great experience. The atmosphere was inviting and laid-back. It was not that busy, so we immediately got sat and our waitress was there in maybe 30 sec - 1 min taking our drink order. She was very sweet and attentive and constantly keeping up on my daughter's refills. The food took maybe 15-20 minutes to come out but she informed us that it may be just a bit longer because the wings take some time. This was not a problem and the food was EXCELLENT! We tried a variety of items off of the menu like the corn fritters (AMAZING), the wings, fried mac n chz bites, and the portabello sandwich. Service, food, and environment were all wonderful! I could definitely see this place being a regular spot for me and my family.

I also wanted to say that they do have a nice deck, which is hard to come by around Linglestown. This will be packed in the summer! An even better way to bring customers in would be for them to build an outdoor, covered bar on the deck and have drinks flowing from inside and out!! There is nowhere that I can think of with an outdoor bar in this area and this could definitely be a great spot for this.

I visited the moose on Saturday and had an awesome experience! The staff was friendly and attentive eventhough the place was busy. Our drinks came fast and the pizza we had was to die for. I am going back Friday for happy hour with some work associates. This is one establishment worth going a little bit out of the way to get too.

I don't know when you were at Blue Moose, but; every time I have been there it has been a relaxing atmosphere, and the staff is always near to get anything you want in a timely manor. We had our drinks in 2 minutes. The food is outstanding. I enjoy crab cakes, and these are the real deal. No fillers. I love that it is out of the city, and I don't have to worry about getting shot or my car destroyed.
