Backyard News, 06.15.11

Soon bid goodbye to detour ... Now that the bad concrete at the roundabouts in Linglestown has been replaced, there's a good chance two-way traffic will be restored in the village this Friday or early next week.

Baseball update ...
After struggling at the plate in a 2-2 tie with Steelton and a 6-1 loss to Hummelstown, the Linglestown Juggernauts sandlot team had a breakout game Tuesday at Penbrook with a 15–5 victory. Mark Frailey and Kyle Hollingsworth each had a homer, and Pete Hayden was the winning pitcher. The team's record is 3 wins, 3 losses and a tie.

Next home game at Koons Park is this Saturday against Middletown, the East Shore Twilight League's reining champs. 5:30 pm first pitch.

Evening music ...
St. Thomas United Church of Christ, located one-mile east of the Linglestown square, will open its summer vesper series with bluegrass group Heart & Soul this Sunday, June 19, at 6 pm. The event will be held outdoors in the church's prayer garden. The public is welcome to attend. Be sure to bring lawn chairs.

Join the fun! ... PandaMania Vacation Bible School is coming to New Hope Church in Linglestown, June 20-24, 6:30-8:30 pm. Call 545-3400 for more information and to register, or go the church's website.
