Linglestown construction update

Notes from last week's Village of Linglestown Committee meeting:

* Final paving of Linglestown Road is expected to occur just after
July 4. The work will be done with flagmen directing traffic.

* Concern continues about the need for light shields on the new street lights to cut down on light directed toward homes along Linglestown Road. PPL wants to be paid for the shields, but township officials thought the shields were included in the original contract. Lower Paxton Township manager George Wolfe said he would contact PPL to seek a resolution on this issue.

* The question was raised about the condition of the portion of Blackberry Alley that runs behind Lio's Pizza and Sub Shop that was not part of a recent paving project. Township manager Wolfe clarified that the newly paved alleys are township property and were paved using funds from government grants, but the township does not have funds to improve the eastern portion of Blackberry Alley. The village committee voted to make a formal request to the township that the unpaved section of Blackberry Alley be repaired when funds become available.
