Sandlot baseball: Linglestown wins home opener

After dropping their first two games on the road, the Linglestown Juggernauts rolled over Palmyra 13–2 Sunday in East Shore Twilight League action at Koons Park.

The Juggernauts took command of the game by scoring six runs in the second inning on one hit, five walks, a hit batter and three Palmyra errors. Linglestown's designated hitter Nate Shroy put the game out of reach in the fourth inning with a three-run homer.

Third baseman Bryan Stovall had a stellar game for the Juggernauts at the plate with three singles and a run batted in.

Veteran Linglestown pitcher Pete Hayden went the distance, giving up only four hits and three walks.

The Linglestown Juggernauts have had very successful teams in recent years. They won the league playoffs in 2007, and the regular season and playoff championships in 2008 and 2009. Last season they finished second in the regular season and were defeated in the championship playoff series by Middletown.

If you enjoy baseball, be sure to check out the Juggernauts. Most of the players have college baseball experience.

The Juggernauts are scheduled to play two games next Sunday at Koons Park – Valley View at 2 pm and Hummelstown at 5 pm.
