Nice picture, very clear. I saw it in my yard also in Blue Meadow and wondered what it was. Peterson's guide confirms the Cooper but it could be a true blue/grey in disguise..I didn't notice it dwarbling though. That would have been a real give away.
Beware. There are people who may think that the blue dwarbled grey hawk really exists. Isn't it in the same category as the Great American Red-backed Sand-dabber (often seen on blackets by the ocean)?
We live in the last house on N Blue Ribbon Avenue, and this past weekend (Nov 26/27) we put up our Christmas lights since the weather was so beautiful. I am fairly certain these beautiful birds are living on our property, or very close. On Sunday, we saw two, circling right above us for a good 5 minutes, and then a third one came. Not sure if the last one was the same type or not, but it's very exciting for us as we're new to the neighborhood. Just thought I'd share with you all.

We've had a Cooper's hawk in the area that has grown over the last 3 years from an immature to this beautifule mature bird.
Hey Bill I think that is a blue dwarbled grey hawk.
