Happy Turkey Day

Thankful for readers ...

I'm thankful for Linglestown Gazette readers. Anywhere from 70 to 100 people visit this news blog on weekdays. Traffic has picked up since PennLive.com posted a link to Gazette a few months ago.

Did you know that celebrating Thanksgiving has more to with the Civil War than the Pilgrims? Check it out HERE.

Brainstorming idea ...

What do you think about expanding Linglestown Gazette into a weekly newspaper?

Brainstorming...
An online weekly newspaper would work, but I don't see folks pulling cash from their pockets to buy one when the Paxton Herald is covering the area (even with it's editorial issues). I'd stick with the electronic format - include more advertising if you can make that work for you. The future is not in print media...

I'd talk to people who live in the Linglestown vicinity and see what they think. It's possible that people would be interested in having a Linglestown-oriented newspaper. And it would help stir competition too!

I live in Lower Paxton south of I-81, and find your information insightful and entertaining to read. Would the weekly "Gazette" consider adding other reporters and sources? For example, I'd like to see a link to police and fire calls, much like newspapers used to publish.

Yes, if this idea gets off the ground, additional reporters would file stories and police/fire calls would be published.

Feedback on other types of "local" news that you don't see in the daily newspaper or on electronic media would be appreciated.

For example, on the sports scene, would you like to see info on midget baseball, girls softball and the twilight baseball team?

I'm not sure about weekly, but maybe monthly or semi monthly would be better. It can be placed in the local shops/offices/restaurants. Advertisements/coupons would be the key though. I'd have no problem continuing to relate stories/news items to you. Keep us posted!
