BB AnswerLine: Earth movers across from Mikado?

Question I’ve received a couple inquiries about the excavation work that is under way near the intersection at N. Mountain Rd. and N. Lockwillow Ave. across from the recently opened Mikado Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar.

BB answer Linglestown Gazette first reported in November 2006 about a three story, 93-room extended-stay motel planned for the property that had a farm house on it when I first moved into the area in the late 1980s. Today I called Lower Paxton Township and confirmed that MLG Enterprises, Inc., the same company that runs the Best Western next to Geo’s Country Oven, is following through with its Candlewood Suites motel project.

The video below was taken today just as the excavation crew was wrapping up work for the day.

A brave cameraman, to stand so close to traffic to report local happenings. Thanks.

Question is will the traffic light be improved or turn lanes added to improve that intersection?

Hey, DRM. Good hearing from you. I was never in danger while shooting the video because I stood on a gigantic concrete island located on the approach to the traffic light on N. Lockwillow Ave.

I'm in the process of checking with the LP zoning and planning office to see if street improvements were included in the motel plan.

The developer agreed to give Lower Paxton Twp. $11,000 toward future improvements to the intersection at N. Mountain Road and N. Lockwillow Ave., according to a staffer in the township planning & zoning department. No improvements are in the works at the present time.
