TV show bypasses local stylist for young guns

Bill Trotter, owner of Shag hair salon located in the village square in Linglestown, had a good news-bad news experience Sunday in New York City during a tryout for Bravo network's Shear Genius reality TV show.

Judges were very impressed with Trotter’s work, calling it “classic Vidal Sassoon.” But, they were looking for young, pretty stylists to showcase, he said.

“My age was definitely a factor,” said Trotter, who was cut after round one Sunday.

Gazette kudos go to Trotter for putting himself out there in an attempt to get his business and Linglestown some national attention.

Last week, Trotter showed off his immense talents during the B² Makeover Project.

I've had several callbacks and conversations with casting directors and the producers over the past few years. When your work and portfolio qualify, we know that there are several factors to being cast. Type, market where you live and personality all come into play.Television is an image business. You have to be thick skinned. It comes with the auditioning process. All in all, Having your work filmed in New York is still amazing. Thanks for your support.
