New eatery quietly opens in Linglestown

The Mountain Road Diner located in the space formerly occupied by Geo's Country Oven is now open, according to a recent Q-Tip.

Also, per signage, Linglestown Family Restaurant will open soon in the old Krusty's space at the Sports City on Linglestown Road.

We had brunch last Sunday at the Mountain Road Diner. Our food was very good. The space has been completely remodeled since it was Country Oven/Geo's.

Krusty's had lousy pizza. Jigsy's, Quiznos and a coffee shop weren't able to succeed in that spot either. Perhaps if the building's owner were willing to spend some cash to make this unattractive location more appealing, a restaurant could make a go of it, but as things stand now, I don't hold out much hope for any business that takes over that space.

The Linglestown Family Restaurant will be run by the same folks who own the St. Thomas Restaurant on Linglestown Rd., which serves superb food at a very moderate price. I think there's real hope that something good will finally fill that space.
