Linglestown smorgasbord

Special food options on Saturday, Sept. 30 …

* The youth of New Hope Church, 584 Colonial Club Drive, will offer a spaghetti dinner and talent show from 4 to 7 pm. Meal includes salad, bread and dessert for a donation. Take-out available. Call 545-3400 for more information.

* St. Thomas United Church of Christ, 6490 Linglestown Road (one mile east of the village square) will hold a drive-through chicken barbecue starting at 10 am. Those who purchase tickets in advance are guaranteed chicken until 1 pm. Cost is $6. Eat-in or take-out. Call 652-7259 for tickets.

* Linglestown Fire Company, 5901 Linglestown Road, will hold a chicken corn soup sale from 11 am until sold out. Eat-in or take-out, with sandwiches, desserts and beverages. Bring soup containers; a limited number of them will be available.

Colts' winning ways halted by Cumberland Valley

Linglestown square project moving forward

According to a report on WGAL TV-8 at noon, the state has approved the Route 39 improvement project in the village of Linglestown and construction will start next year.

Project engineers are talking to property owners about right-of-way issues, and a public meeting will be scheduled in the near future.

9/11 Service of Remembrance

* Monday, Sept. 11 - Linglestown Fire Company will hold a memorial service at the firehall in remembrance of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Outdoor ceremony will include music by a bagpiper and brass ensemble. Dauphin County Judge John F. Cherry will speak. Bring a lawn chair.

I-81 traffic noise still bothersome

Some neighborhoods along Blue Ridge Avenue are getting blasted with annoying levels of nighttime traffic noise from Interstate 81, according to Linglestown Gazette sources. The noise barriers along the highway in Lower Paxton Township are apparently funneling noise into areas that were previously unaffected by the traffic din.
