TGIF backyard news, 12.19.08

* It’s Friday, and that means it’s time for an update on music at St. Thomas Roasters coffee house.

Tonight’s artist, Paul Zavinsky, has made many appearances at Roasters. Paul, who works at WITF TV-33, digs classic folk, country, blues and rock tunes that he sings while playing guitar and occasionally mouth harp. Plus, he’s willing to take requests. Join me tonight at Roasters, 8–10 pm, to hear Paul do his thing. As always, FREE admission.

Saturday night, Roasters will feature The Pratts (pictured), a couple from Mechanicsburg that performs Christian and cover songs, along with a few original tunes. I heard them in October, and they get a thumbs-up. Stop by Roasters 8–10 pm for some good stuff.

* Hey, did you hear that Santa is scheduled to tour the Linglestown area Sunday afternoon?

* Last call to enter Linglestown Fire Company's SUPER TRAVEL RAFFLE. Drawing will take place on Christmas Eve. Need more info? All you need to know and more is only a CLICK away.

* I had the pleasure of meeting face-to-face for the first with a pair of loyal Gazette readers during my travels Thursday – Stence Miller and Erica Streisfeld.

By the way, Erica is a notable blogger on the area’s food and wine scene. Check out her work on examiner.com and on her blog Wisdom for Winos.
